美國科羅拉多大學教授,北京市特聘教授,土木交通现金网結構與新型材料研究所所長 。

科羅拉多大學是美國著名研究類型大學, 有數位諾貝爾獎獲得者.其結構工程在世界上有很高的聲譽 。 席雲平是目前該學科大陸旅美華人最活躍的學者之一。 歷任美國土木工程師協會工程力學分會材料性能委員會主席(2003.10 – 2006.10),美國科羅拉多大學土木環境及建築工程繫結構實驗室主任 ,美國科羅拉多州公路系統技術協助中心主任,美國土木工程師協會《工程力學》雜誌副主編 (2003.10 - 2006.10)  ,國際性雜誌《計算機在混凝土中的應用》編委會委員 ,國際性雜誌《混凝土科學和工程》(RILEM)編委會委員,美國國家科研基金會科羅拉多大學地震研究中心(NSF NEES center at Univ. of Colorado at Boulder) 顧問委員會委員,國際混凝土徐變協會指導委員會委員, 科羅拉多大學土木環境及建築工程系執行委員會(executive committee ) 委員 ,科羅拉多大學工现金网科研委員會委員  ,科羅拉多大學結構工程及結構力學教研室負責人 (2002-2003),科羅拉多大學土木環境及建築工程系教學大綱編委會委員 (1999-2001) 。

主要研究方向:建築材料長期耐久性的理論分析和試驗、結構長期性能的監測和模擬、發展新型混凝土, 新型耐火高強混凝土材料, 廢棄物的循環應用 。自1993年在美任教以來,已主持完成了70餘項科研項目,總計經費六百餘萬美元.
